SOS: Veeam Ready Repository – Capacity Target

February 17, 2026
Announcement

Exoscale Simple Object Storage (SOS) is now certified as a “Veeam Ready Repository – Capacity Target”.

Image #1
This certification confirms that SOS can be used as a Veeam object storage repository and as a Capacity Tier in Veeam Scale-Out Backup Repositories, meeting Veeam’s functional and performance requirements, including immutability (Object Lock) support.
In Veeam Backup & Replication, Exoscale is configured via the “S3-compatible object storage” option using standard S3 credentials and endpoints.

What this enables

  • Store Veeam backups directly on Exoscale SOS
  • Use SOS as a Capacity Tier for long-term retention
  • Protect backups with immutability (Object Lock)
  • Follow standard Veeam S3-compatible workflows

Getting started

To start backing up to SOS in Veeam:
  1. Add a new Object Storage Repository
  2. Select “S3-compatible object storage”
  3. Configure it using your Exoscale S3 endpoint and credentials
Exoscale-specific documentation will be updated separately.
Restore to on-premises environments is supported, while restore to Exoscale will be introduced in a future update.

Follow Veeam’s standard S3-compatible setup:
