TPM 2.0 Support for Virtual Machines

June 11, 2025
New

We’ve added TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) support for Windows and Linux instances on Exoscale, significantly enhancing data protection and system integrity for these operating systems.

Why is it Important?

With rising demands for data security and compliance, TPM 2.0 introduces a hardware-based foundation, designed for workloads that require robust encryption and secure key handling.

It enables:

  • BitLocker drive encryption support for Windows Server

  • Improved key handling and secure storage for LUKS-encrypted block devices on Linux

  • Enhanced system integrity and data-at-rest protection

Availability

TPM 2.0 is available when creating new Windows or Linux instances, and can be enabled via:

  • Portal

  • CLI

  • API
